to Lloyd Pugh VA I have a copy of a Bellefonte,Logan Co., Ohio newspaper artical about the 50th wedding anniversery of Robert Cummins Jr. and Sarah Shawl, paper dated 11-27-1965. They were married 16 Nov 1815 near South Charleston by a Rev. Alexander Cummins - cousin to Robert, a Methodist preacher of some renown in the Ohio Conference from 1809 to his death 27 Sept 1823 at the age of 36. The article goes on to say that John Cummins was the grandfather of Robert. He was born in Hunterdon Co. NJ, the son of Simon Cummins who was an Irish immigrant. Simon Cummins settled in Farquier Co. VA around 1758 and died there in June of 1771. Maybe this might help you? My husband is a Cummins descendent.
