Good Day
Looking for Cummings relatives of John Cummings, who settled in Willink, Niagara co, Ny (now Hamburg, Erie co)in or around 1803, and built the areas first grist mill, 1805-6, then died shortly after.
Is there a family bible, or other primary/secondary evidence which shows his birth, or death year, and/or age at death? He shows in 1810 census Willink, Niagara co, Ny as being over age 25, actually there were two listings. There were no other listings of Cummings in Willink (later Hamburg Erie co), 1820/1830/1840.
Presumably, he died by 1811, and was the first buried in the village graveyard.
Does anyone out there have a John Cummings in their family born 1770's-1780's in NH, VT, NY and moved to Willink in Western New York, and either died there, or removed to another location. This person is a mystery to us. We have proof he bought land from the Holland Land co, and bought mill equipment 1805, and the census listing shown above. Thats it...
Looking for Cummings family genealogists who may be able to assist.
