Eliza Cullum (wife of Uriah Benton) was the daughter of Archibald B Cullum and Mary A T Barnes. Archibald was son of William Cullum Jr and Darcus Steagal. William Cullum Jr was son of William Cullum Sr and Amy Hix/Hicks who moved from Sussex Co, VA to Halifax Co, NC between 1777-1780. Or at least William Cullum Sr moved - Amy died and it's not known if she made the move or not. William Cullum Sr was son of Thomas Cullum Sr and Elizabeth Johnson of Surry/Sussex Co, VA. Elizabeth Johnson was daughter of William Johnson Sr and Phoebe (possibly Pettway) of Surry Co, VA. The Albemarle Parish Register contains many of the birth records for the early Cullums.
