I have been wondering about the Sampson/ Cumberland County connection. Are these the same family. I have Torkle/Torquill Colbreath/Galbreath in our Graham line and a lot of people want him to be born around 1747/49. Torkle was born in 1760 as his grave stone says 65 years. Some show Angus in Cumberland the same time Neill married to Autry is in Sampson and Angus having children about the same time as well. Others have this same Neil as his son. Angus lists a Torquill in his will and some claim his father is Neil. Early records list Torquill as Colbreth and later as Galbreath and I have read a reseacher say someof the family went by Galbreath first and later changed to Galbreath. This family reminds me of, What came first the chicken or the egg.

Any one who can help please contact me as I am interested in all the Cumberland County Galbreaths late 1700' early 1800's

Thanks,
Eileen

Hi Jean,

I lost track of the Galbreaths who went west in the mid 1800's, some relatives settled in California and some in Oregon. As yet I do not know if any wound up in Colorado. I'll let you know if I come across any connection to Floyd.
