I highly doubt that any of you are related to me. My family is in Abbeville SC. There are a whole bunch of Culbreths down there. My father found out alot of our history, so far as to who was the first Culbreth to come to America from our family. His name was Edward Culbreath from Scotland and he was one of the first to settle in Chappels Ferry area of the Saluda River, which is now the Edgefield District. He had four sons who were Joseph, John, Daniel, and Edward. I decsend from Joseph (Edward, Joseph, Edward, Isham, James Wesley, James Bailey, John R., Robert S.) So if any of you might think that you are related to me some how, feel free to write me.

Amanda, you probably have thousands of us out here. I'm descended from John Culbreath and his son William and his daughter Elizabeth Clementine who married Middleton Graham of Saluda. They were the parents of my GGrandmother who is buried at Chestnut Hill Baptist Church, near Chappels. I grew up near Ninety Six, graduated from Greenwood HS. I live in Florida now. I would love to get any info you may have. I just recently started researching the Culbreaths. I'm currently corresponding with Steve Culbreath in Hawaii. His email addrress is: cub@cubsclubs.com. My email is: martiab@aol.com

Daniel died in Rutherford Co, NC 11-17-1834-wife Jane died on 5-5-1849 Daniel had these children: Edward, b. 11-11-1781 Racheal, b. 11-6-1783, Jane, b. 1-10-1786, John, b. 7-3-1788, Polly, b. 10-4-1789. Henry, b. 2-14-1793, Catey (Cahterine) b. 6-23-1798. I decend from Edward who marreid Sarah (last name unknown) Edward and Sarah had son, James, born 1819 married in Rutherford Co on 4-9-1845 to Julia Griswold. Hello, Well nice to meet you. From looking at you ancestor line and mine the only thing I came up with is that is possibly the John Culbreath was the brother of Joseph Culbreath. In which I decend from Joseph Culbreath. The four brothers were Daniel, Joseph, John, and Edward. They were the sons of Edward who was first to come to Scotland. I have found over time that the brothers all seemed to have split off into different states and so on. But that is the only match I could come up with. Like I said my line Edward, Joseph, Edward, Isham, James Wesley, James Bailey, John R., and then my Dad Robert Culbreth. But if you really want to know, my father knows alot more than me. He has been researching my line of family for a long time and probably could help you with yours if you need it. His e-mail cub@cubsculb.com. But nice meeting you.

Amanda: I have been researching my family for several years. I decend from John and Mary (Clark) Culbreath of Mecklenburg Co., VA. I have been stuck on who John's father was for a long time. ARe you part of this line? Is this John a brother or son of Edward from the Edgefield district? Nancy
|
Most likely he is the soon of Edward who moved to Edgefield from Scotland. He is one of the four boys. It just all depends how far back they go. I am not that sure though. But there is a possibility. If you would like to talk to my dad you can. He knows more than me. His e-mail is cub@cubclubs.com. He could probably tell you alot more than I can. Amanda

I am looking for information on John Culbreath b: abt 1710, d: 7 Aug 1759, in Lunenburg County Va. Married to Mary Farrar in Granville County NC. John is my GGG Grandfather. His son Daniel is my GG Grandfather, Daniel's son James is my g-gfather, George W is my grandfather.
I believe John was born in Scotland, but have not been able to satisfy myself on this. Would love some info.

Nancy, After 14 years you may have your answer already! I'm a Culbreath descendant lately joined the search and am trying to get the Mecklenburg Culbreath's straight on paper. Particularly the families of early (Lunenburg) settlers William and John. I note from your post/question that you descend from John and Mary (Clark) Culbreath. Do you have verification of birth / death dates for this John Culbreath? I have a two ideas who his father was. Randal Chattanooga, TN
