Michael thanks for reply. I live in Hope Mills NC near Fayetteville. Do you know who Jacobs C Culbreath (B-1852 D-1930) father was. He was from Fayetteville.Would probably be easy to locate if I knew the name.

I'm researching the Culbreth surname in N.C. and I have many Culbreth ancestors in Cumberland Cty. and have visited there gravesites recently. I have found my G.G. grandfather's grave and know that he was born in 1837 according to LDS records and Civil War documentation but unfortunately his headstone only had his CSA unit info on it. I have talked to other Culbreths on the website of Culbreth and also so your reply to one but lost the info as how to respond to you until now. I know that my ancestors settled here in the Cape Fear region of N.C. during the yearsof 1732-1776 and were given land grants by King George. My G.grandmother was a Porter prior to her marriage to a Culbreth and I can tie her family directly to this by land deeds. I was birn and raised in this same area in fact, I lived right down the road from my mother's Culbreth Cemetery where my great and G.G. grandparents are buried but didn't know it. Then there was a family feud and my grandfather chose instead to be buried at the Big Rockfish Presy. Church which he and my grandmother attended. I also have some other Culbreth relatives that are buried at Big Rockfish but I don't know the connection yet(Fleet and Mary) but know that they are already traced back to Angus Culbreth born in Scotland and emigrated to Bladen Cty. He had a son who was Neil and Fleet#1 was one son. I know also at this time Cumberland was a part of Bladen Cty according to the state map at that time.

I don't know about any info about some of the family moving to other states because I know during this time my direct line were here in N.C. farming and during the Civil War and fought for N.C. units for which I have documentation. Both my G.G.grandfathers were Civil War soldiers.

If there is anything I find along this pathway while during my research I'll be glad to let you know. Becki

I am presently doing genealogy work on my mother's Culbreth ancestors. I have grown up in the Fayetteville area just down from the area where both my G.G.grandparents are buried. I am very much concerned with having facts to back up my studies and indeed have this because I was so close to the evidence to begin with. My obstacle now is finding out about my dates on my G.G.grandfathers because they had CSA markers from the Civil War with only their N.C. unit info on them. I am going to research the Civil War Muster Rolls on microfilm when I have a full day to spent at the courthouse. I have also got some other Culbreth relatives there in Fayetteville with whom I have been communicating with.

You may reach me at mbeckia@aol.com and we can share this research. Becki
