I am looking for Sandra Grigg-Bingle, who posted the following email to Rootsweb GenConnect Culbert Queries on 4 Sep 2000. That post location no longer exists. I now have the information you were seeking about the Culberts.

Looking for any reference to my great-grandfather, known to us only as "Captain CULBERT" who we were told was "a ship's captain from New England". I've recently found out that almost all the salted cod fish imported into St Croix to feed the slaves and even after slavery was abolished, came from Connecticut. I've also learned that a member of the Culbert family on St Croix, Danish West Indies (now the U.S. Virgin Islands), which owned estates on St Croix and also businesses in Connecticut, was married to a Heyliger on St Croix. One of my great-uncles (George Grigg) also married a Heyliger so the families were related by marriage. I'd like to hear from anyone who has any information about a CULBERT of St Croix and Connecticut. My grandmother was born about 1900-1903 on St. Croix. I don't know her mother's name.
