Jan:
Kluk is a Polish name. We (at least my ) Kluks are from the Galicia region of Poland, from the towns of Nisko and Lesko on the San River, in Southcentral Poland. When they came to the USA right before the First World War, there was no Poland. Galicia was a Province of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. My great-grandfather was a soldier of Franz-Joseph's
killed in a border skirmish with Russian soldiers circa 1890-1895. The name has never been shortened.
There are no other Kluk's in my family but for my immediate family members i.e sisters. My uncle had five girls, so the name ends there. I am the last of the Kluk's here in Pittsburgh, PA, USA! I hope this helps your research.
E-mail me if you'd like.

Mywife's father wass Jan Kluk, born @ 1894, shehas ten sisters and one brother. All were born and raisedinChicago. Records from Ellis Island indicate that he and his wife both left from Galicia, when they came to the USA. I have a little more information, but not much. Look forward to hearing from you.
