Does anyone know the history of the surname, Monclova?
I have found that the name Monclova emerged in the 14th Century, the period of expansion of the Roman Empire. In Seville Spain the castle of Monclova was built in honor of the Roman General Clovio. It is said that Monclova means "Region of Clovio".
On September 20, 1617, King Felipe III created a title of nobility, the Count of Monclova.
Then I believe that in 1689, a foundation in Mexico was rebuilt and named Monclova after the third Count of Monclova, Viceroy of Spain.
However, I have not found the history of the surname Monclova. Does anyone know the history of the surname? Any information will be greatly appreciated.
