Does anyone have information on Patrick Cuffe DOB 1770, married Margaret Hughes, DOB 1780, from Kilkenny. There were supposedly 18 children in the family. Two of the children were Bridget, DOB 1 Jan 1800 Mary Ann,DOB 1812. I am not sure where they were in the birth order. Mary Ann married John Cribbins, DOB 1809. Bridget, my 4grandmother married Patrick Gibbons, 1796-1847. Mary Ann settled in Michigan with her family later Bridget's son Joseph, also settled there. In 1853, Bridget other family members came to Mich by way of New Orleans. Bridget is buried in Jeddo, Mich.
Does this indicate any family ties to anyone? I have more info if this looks like a tie-in.

I'm clutching at straws here Ralph.
My gr.gr. grandfather was William Nassau Cuffe. His father was David Henry born abt. 1800. We are pretty sure William left Ireland for USA perhaps to join other family members but don't know when but we think they were there around 1887-1890 for two reasons. I've found Wm N Cuffe on the directories for Jackson, Mich 1887-1890. My gr. grandfather and his family visited them in 1888/1889. A daughter was born to my gr. grandfather whilst they were there. Does any of this ring any bells to you.

I have no further information on the siblings of Bridget Mary Ann. I have 2 different contacts in their 80's, I'll double check with them. I don't recall any of the 2 sisters having the name "Nassua" in either family. If I find out anything I'll post it on this forum.

The name Nassau appears to be used as a christian name. I have come across it twice in our family including William.

I have been exhaustingly researching my family via the internet and have not had much luck so now I am hitting widly:I have only one or two confirmed facts:My grandfather was Charles Edward Cuff who was born and died in New Zealand:His father was David Henry Septimus Cuff who was born ( I thought) in Roscommon county Cavan ireland and died in N.Z.He married Catherine Vogan also of County Cavan. His father was also David Henry and here it gets hazy as I clearly remember rumours 1,that the E was dropped from the name, that the family came from Tipperary( and yet facts seem to point to Cavan), that they were minor nobility.I KNOW that the first David came to N.Z.on the ship "Carrisbrook Castle" which sailed from London 29 May 1874 and arrrived Lyttleton N.Z. 2 Sep.I KNOW that his mother was Mary Moore.I KNOW that he was born in 1858.I KNOW that his mother and father were school teachers, I THINK presbeterian church.I have put up messages on a number of boards and I have had one or two promising results but nothing concrete so as I said I am randomly hitting. When I began I thought that it would be easy as I have always thought of my maiden name as a lttle unusual, but when I started researching it blew my mind to realize that Cuff and/or Cuffe is almost as common as Smith particularly in Ireland! I would welcome almost anything that confers with the given dates, KNOWN facts, possible facts. My email address is english@ihug.co.nz. Thank You :Theresa
