I have no clue if we are related or not but it is good to hope. My maiden name is Cuebas spelled with the "B." My father was Francisco Cuebas (called Frank) and I must admit that I do not know very much about him. He did have a sister called Delfina and they were born in Mayaquez. If we are not related then perhaps you have heard of this Cuebas? No matter if we are related or not I wish you good luck in locating your family and learning more about their history.

Hola Victor!

My husband is a descendant of Juan zacarias Rodriguez Cuebas of Mayaguez. Juan Z. was the son of Juan Zacarias Rodriguez Cesani and Carmen Cuebas de Arredondo. Carmen was the daughter of Eugenio Cuebas y Maria Teresa de Arredondo. I have some information on the various lines of Eugenio y Maria Teresa. Email me at mdkarod@aol.com and we can exchange information and see if we find matches. Adios, Kathy

This gets thick. The names of Aunts and Uncles were repeat in a number of generation making this a little difficult.

I will search my record for family tree if any one replies.

Oscar Cuevas Byrd

AKA Oscar Cuebas, fourth child (youngest) of Oscar Cuebas, one of the three brothers, Emila, Eugenio, Oscar with Sister or my aunts Carmen, Gloria, .... My grand father Antonio ?? and Grandmother Vivinana Rosello Cuebas (if I spelled it right)

Oscar

If I understand your message correctly, the family tree I have shows your grandfather was José Antonio Roselló son of Antonio Matías Roselló y Casaverde and Eduviges González y ?.
José Antonio Roselló y González and Enriqueta Vázquez y Pomales had a daughter Eduvigis "Vivita" Roselló y Vázquez who married Emilio Cuebas y Laforet. The parents of Emilio Cuebas y Laforet were Eugenio Cuebas y Arredondo and Dolores Laforet y Cubino.
Eugenio's parents were Eugenio Cuebas and María Teresa Josefa Arredondo. Dolores' parents were Luis Laforet and Dolores Cubino.

Hello! I am also researching the Cuebas surname from Mayaguez (Salud and Rio Canas Abajo). Perhaps one of there names may ring a bell... My great grandmother, Patria Rios Y Cuebas was born in 1924 to Florentina Cuebas Y Lebron and Jose Rio. Florentina's siblings were Catalina, Esmeralda, Rafaela, and Faustina. Florentina was born to Virginia Lebron Y Aponte, and Buenaventura Cuebas Y Feliciano. I would love to swap info!

The Cuebas seemed to be originally from San German that was the second town to be settled in Puerto Rico. Cuebas with "b" is the Medieval way of writing the name and it was correct for that period of time and it was written like this in form writings and govermental writings. There at least 2 Cuebas/Cuevas branches. The one of the coast and the one from the mountains. My family is from the mountains, Utuado and according to several dna tests, the mountain Cuevas came from Spanish/Semitic people probably old Jews, genetic group J2. I'm researching the Cuebas from San German/Mayaguez to see if both Cuebas/Cuevas branches are one single group. If interested in my search, please email me at grecolatinous@yahoo.com. My name is Esteban. Gracias!
