Shocking Suicide.--A melancholy case of suicide occurred in Newburgh, Blizzard's Hotel, a day or two ago. It appears that Mr. Joseph CUDDEBACK, a respectable farmer, residing in Cuddebackville, Orange County [New York] had been indicted by the Grand Jury for assault and battery. The friends of Mr. CUDDEBACK did all in their power to settle the matter, and were in a fair way to do so, when the affair so worked upon the mind of Mr. CUDDEBACK as to drive him to desperation. He came down into the bar-room of the hotel and asked for a pencil, and returned to his room. Shortly after the report of a pistol was heard. Mr. BLIZZARD hastened to his room and found him seriously wounded. The landlord instantly started for a physician, but before he returned another report was heard, and on entering the room a second time the unfortunate man was found quite dead. He had shot himself through the head and instantly expired.
