My Grandfather was Robert H. Cudd who died in Alex Okla. in the late 50's. My father was Lawrence Cudd who died in Chickasha, Okla. in 1967 at the age of 50. Would like to know more about his ancestors. I have reason to think we are part Cherokee Indian. I have always wished that was true ever sence I found that out in 1994.

Have you ever looked into the series of books CHEROKEE BY BLOOD? Those are indexes abstracts of the records from the Land Commission in the early 1900s. The government was going to give land to anyone who could prove granma/granpa was Indian. It got so out of hand that it was stopped. The records are at Ft Worth TX branch archives of NARA. But you can search them easily from those books which most libraries have on the shelf. My husband is a descendant of John Cudd Susannah Eisen of Union Co SC to Cobb Dekalb Co GA to Attala Co MS where he took his War of 1812 bounty land.

My great grandmother is Ottie Mae Cudd. I do not know her parents' names, only a first initial of W. for her father. Is she part of your family tree. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have any dates or locations for her? How about names of spouses or children? This might help me find her in my database.

THEY CAME FROM ENGLAND. HIS FATHER WILLIAM CAME OUT OF MISSISSIPPI TO TEXAS AROUND 1862. MY GRANDFATHER CAME TO OKLAHOMA IN 1892 AS A YOUNG BOY WITH MY GREAT-GRANDFATHER, 2 BROTHERS AND A BABY SISTER. HIS MOTHER DIED IN CHILD BIRTH I AM TOLD. MY GRANDFATHER WAS BORN IN 1886. HE DIED ON MARCH THE 9TH 1959. I WAS 10 YRS OLD. HE HAS ONE LIVING SON LEFT. BOBBY JOE CUDD OF WOODWARD, OKLA. MY FATHER, BECAUSE HE HAD COAL BLACK HAIR, HAS OFTEN BEEN ASKED IF HE IS INDIAN. THE ANSWER HE HAS ALWAYS GIVEN HAS BEEN NO. I HAVE INDIAN BLOOD FROM MY MOTHERS SIDE OF THE FAMILY.

I have a gedcom I have put together for this family. Need to compare notes to eliminate any errors.

I show that this Cudd line originated in SC then moved to Al then to Ms then to IT/Ok. Also have census extracts in text format you might like to see.

Nothing other than the census records. If I have not already given you a copy of those then contact me at jlbgreen@worldnet.att.net and I will send you a copy.

Were Lavona and Frances sisters? Will have to check my sources and ask around.

Do you know if there will be a Cudd reunion this year? Or next?
