My great-grandfather came from Nicastro, Calabria, Italy, in 1900. His Father was Pasquale Cuda and his Mother was Maria Ferraro ( I think). He was born in 1880, in Nicastro. If your Cuda family hails from here let me know.

Hi Gina, My mother's maiden name was Grazia Cuda. Her father's name was Antonio Cuda. He came from a very large family. I don't know their names, but my mother might know. You can write or call her if you want. My mother has a sister named Maria Cuda who still lives in Nicastro. My grandfather married Teresa Curcio. We all lived in New York together, but my grandparents went back to Nicastro in the mid-sixties. If you want more information please e-mail me. My address is: Reno_Bellissimo@bigpond.com.auRino

I am also trying to locate the exact family roots/ancestry. My grandparents were Erminio Cuda and Laura Falvo. I am pretty sure they were from Falerna, Calabria. They emigrated to Australia in the 1950s. My father, Francesco Cuda married Teresa Pontieri, who was born in Nicastro. They emigrated to Australia in 1962.
I would be very interested to find out any information on either side.
Thanks Loretta

It appears that the Cuda family from nicastro is in my family genealogy...Mastroianni, Pontieri, Statti, Costa, Perri, Napoleone...most immigranted to USA.
Any information to connect the line would be great...thank you!

I do not know the Cuda's, but I am a Pontieri whose grandfather (among others) immigrated to the US from Nocera Terinese, Calabria from 1880's to 1913. Nicola, Domenico, Francesco, Ernesto Pontieri Do you know if we are related? I haven't been able to find anything on the family origins. Thanks, Marie

Hi...my GG Aunt Carmela Statti married Giuseppe Pontieri. They had two son's, Ernesto and Chiccio. Ernesto was a very beloved professor at one of the Italian University. He has a building dedicated to him and a bust of him in the town. I think the town is Nicastro. I'll check into that...hope that helps! My family (Statti) immigrated Pittsburgh, PA in 1902.

Are you related to the dentist Dr. Statti? My Uncle Chuck Cuda played cards with him and I went to him as a young child.
|
I do not know who we are related to. My father's family settled in Monogahela, Penn after Lebanon, Ohio ~ 1900. We still have family in Nocera but I do not understand the relationship between us and other Pontieri families. The family is not a really large one, so I'm pretty sure we are related. I will ask about Dr. Statti. My dad moved his family to Houston. So I've been out of the loop on the relative thing besides my aunts and uncles. One other thing, some Pontieri 's here in the States changed their name legally to Pontier. My uncle visited Calabria and they took him to see the statue of Ernesto. But it was 30yrs ago and no one is alive here in the States who knows the connection.

Yes. Dr Statti, Lou, was my grandfather, John Napoleon (son of Santa Statti) first cousin.

Do you have any information on the origins of the Pontieri family? Thanks, Marie
