Hello:

I am a granddaughter of Frank Ctibor, who immigrated with his parents Matthias and Anna Ctibor to the Winona, MN area around 1865, owned a grocery store there, and eventually settled permanently in Muskego, WI. I have much family info, if you are interested in this Ctibor family.

Around 1920, our Ctibor family changed the spelling to Stibor. We can trace the Ctibor family lineage to the Duke of Ctibor in Bohema. The 13th century Castle Ctibor still stands in what is now the Czech Republic.

Hello Audrey,

I am the Granddaughter of Laverne Marque Kingsley and Dorothy M. Ctibor. My father is Charles F. Kingsley. I have been searching for Family History on the Ctibors and have found in old records that my Grandmothers Father was Charles Mathias Ctibor. All of these people resided in Winona Minnesota. My heart went to my throat when I saw your message. I have history coming to me regarding the changing of the Ctibor name to Stibor. I would be really interested in knowing anything that you might have that would connect with my side of the family. I would really like to hear from you. Any help that you might be able to give would be so greatly appreciated. Kate (Kingsley) Jorgensen never2lateranch@centurytel.net

My father (84 - Robert) was born Robert F. Ctibor and we still have his birth certificate listing Ctibor and then a change of name certificate from circa 1920 changing it to Stibor.

His parents were William and Helen Ctibor (stibor) of Milwaukee Wisconsin. My Grandfather, William was a member of Bohemian Hall in Milwaukee and the family still has a GrandMothers Clock from the Hall including a picture of the hall circa 1930 showing the clock behind the bar.

My Dad had two sons, niether my brother nor I have a son to carry on the Stibor name (three daughters between us).

Dad lives with me now in Georgia.

Anyone wanting to discuss this more, I would love to. Although I don't know as much as i would like, Dad is still with us and we have a great time discussing this stuff.

Mike

That is wonderful! Your grandfather, Bill Stibor, and my mother, Dorothy, were brother and sister. I have many old pictures of all the Stibor brothers and sisters (there were 10!), and much family history to share.

Please e-mail me if you would like my address and any copies of the historic photos.

I am wondering if you are related to Joseph Stibor, 1882-1951. This is my grandfather. If so, please let me know, thank you.

My grandfather's brother was named Josef Stibor. I think we may be related. My grandfather was Vincenc "James" (as we knew him) was born in Bohemia about 1878, came to America about 1888, resided in Chicago Illinois and then moved to Cicero Illinois. Josef lived in LaPorte Indiana. James Stibor died about 1938, wife Sofia lived until 1968.
Sounds like we could be related. Please contact me.

Hi Mike
I was wondering if your grandfather William could be related to my gr. grandfather Franz Stibor. My grandfather, Vincenc, (James as we knew him) Stibor came to America in 1888 from Bohemia with his father, Franz Stibor and Maria Volsansky. Vincenc was one of 5 children. The family settled in Chicago around 1900...but the 1900 census shows only the mother, Maria with her children, Franz was not listed. Several relatives said that Franz deserted the family, others said he committed suicide when he learned the streets weren't paved with gold. So far, I can't prove either theory about his death.
Would your father know if there was family in the Chicago area from about 1900 until 1970 and would they be related?
Please contact me via e-mail.
