Hey there. Well, my last name is Chigi, but from what I was told it was originally spelled Csigi while my family was still in Hungary. I'm not exactly sure, but I think that we have been 'Chigi' for quite a few generations now. Does your family originate from Hungary, or was it French Canadian, or French even?!? Totally confused... ;) Lars...

Yes, most definitely. I know that my family did originate in Hungary. I do know that the speeling of my name was changed from 'csigi' to 'chigi'. For what reason I do not know. So is it possible that we are related then? What are you like? What is your age? I am 29 years old. I will be 30 at the end of January. Do you like live music? I love going to see live music. I am an audio archivist, so I have hundreds of hours of live music, all on cd. Let me know how you are doing. Maybe I can help you with your english... ;) Talk to you soon, Lawrence...

Cool, when you say that your birthday is on the 26th, do you mean January 26th?! If so then we have birthdays on the same day my new friend.. ;) That is a pretty neat coincidence isn't it? As far as live music is concerned, I like so many different artists and bands that I couldn't possibly list them all here. But I will list a few of the favorites that I record as much as I possibly can.

Gov't Mule, moe., Steve Kimock Band, Garaj Mahal, Grateful Dead (obviously I still don't record Grateful Dead shows, but I collect them), Ween, Bill Frisell and the list goes on and on... Who do you listen to? Give me some names...

As far as mp3's are concerned I do not like them at all. I'm what you would call an audiophile. I have extremely high standards, and a lossy compression like mp3 is no good. The only forms of compression that I will use on audio is either FLAC or SHN. In which there is no loss of any kind. They are lossless compression algorithms that allow you to store the audio as data on a cdr. It cannot be played in a cd player, but can be listened to on a computer with the right plug-ins for Winamp. It's mostly for archiving of the audio. At any time the data files can be decoded and reburned as audio cd's. A quick copy of the master recording if you will.

Ok, so I've probably blown your mind already. It's kind of neat that you found my post any responded to it. Keep in touch this is kind of fun to talk to someone over in Europe. See ya, Lars..

P.S.- you can call me Lars for short instead of calling me Lawrence... ;)

Hi!

Sorry, but my birthday is on March 26th... :(((
I think if you originate from Hungary, your name was Csigi, I'm sure, because we dont have name like Chigi in Hungary. Welcome in the family. We have a family tree somewhere in Hungary, becouse my grandfathes brother made one, bat it's lost after he died... :(((

I don't understand the music, I just listening it. I know when we transform the audio to mp3 we lost things, but I can't hear out. It's good enough for me, because ther are lots of music on 1 CD. I have an mp3 player (walkman or diskman), and I can listening them.

I like the rock music, the bluse, the jazz and lately I like the drum 'n' base too. What you write down I know just Grateful Dead, bat not too much...
Some artist what I like: Sting, Clapton, Nirvana, Korn, Depeche Mode, Cure, Nine Inch Nails, Angelo Badalamenti, The Doors, Les Negresses Vertes, Mardi Grass, Moby,Kosheen, Radiohead, Deftones, Primus, Rage Against The Machine, Biohasard, Yamiroquai...

OK. You can call me Vili or Will or William, as you wish.

Will
P.S.-And I don know were are you live.
