Hi David,Welcome to the US. My name is Bill Crymble and the Crymble family has resided in the US since the mid 1880's. In answer to your question , there appears to be no direct tie with the name Cromwel, other then association with Cromwell in history. It is believed that the name Crymble began in the Scandanavin countries, Coming into France through the Vikings. No positive oroff of this. Keep in touch. Such as to where you are residing, etc. I make my home in Colorado.

Hi
My grt Grandma was Margaret Crymble and her father was Hugh Crymble b. 1829. Now my mum who is 84 has for yrs talked about a story of our Crymble line being related to Cromwell and that they weren't happy about it. My cousin Joan also had her mother speaking of this...
I hope to one day sort this out once and for all.

Re: CRYMBLE/CROMWELL"Sorry""
Oliver Cromwell died in 1658. The first "Crymble" I've found was around in 1585. That undermines the theory that Crymbles changed their name.
