hi, I immegrated from northern Ireland, Where the crymble family resided since 1585. The original crymble in ireland was said to be of french extraction, and , was a close associate of the english establishment , then imposing a rule on a country , with threats from the scotts . my first ancestor in ireland settled in carrickfergus, then the premier port in that part of ireland. He was a burgess of this port. The family fought for the british in the american war of independence,[lt. waterhouse crymble died with general braddock in his campaign against fort ducaine[sp?] in ohio. lt edward crymble was promoted to captain for his support in yhe defence of a fort at crown point new york ,lake champlaine. 5 or 6 other crymbles fought for the union army, in the civil war , hailing from mass. and ohio. i have a thin history of the irish beginnings of the family , many males died without sons, and the irish descendants are not huge, eg there are only 26 names in the north ireland phone book.some arrived in the states in 1700, so some of the gaps in the irish records, may have produced emmigrants to america. Also possible is that the 1585 crymbles to ireland left crymble relatives in england. IN MY WORLD TRAVELS, i FOUND NO CRYMBLES IN PHONE BOOKS ,LONDON ENGLAND WHATEVER.I am filling out the irish history and would appreciate any information on the family in america.charles crymble

I was born in Ireland, and can trace the history of the Irish crymbles to 1585 when the original , arrived at carrickfergus. Most crymbles lived in ulster , in towns such as carrickfergus, ballyclair , donaghadee. the original Crymble, was a hugheneault, from French extraction, and a senior member of sir edward waterhouse's staff[ he secretary to the lord deputy]. There is an interesting history, with two brothers fighting against the french , one Edward ,Lt. in the 58th. regiment, October1760 getting promoted to captain after the battle of Crown point {lake champlain, new york state} the other brother Waterhouse ,died in 1755 with Col.dunbar,s regiment of foot as they advanced on fort duchaisne[sic] ohio. I have other thin history if irish origin Crymbles are interested. i found 7 crymbles from ohio and Mass. USA. who fought in the american civil war, on the union side. charles

I'm interested in Crymble history
I descend from Charles Crymble and Margaret Jane McCurley (both born in the early 1800s) of Co. Antrim, Ireland. They migrated to Ohio, and my branch went on to Colorado.
I'm very interested in finding out anything about this name -- it's not common, and there doesn't seem to be much out there.
Thanks.

crymble family reply to sharon smith
my name is charles crymble and i was born in county antrim ireland. i have an incomplete history of the family in ireland, with many charles' right back to 1585. the family were originally from france , huguenots, a protestant group which were at that time being persecuted by the french majority.arrived in ireland as administrators of the english attempt to take over ulster province, a frontier place with scotts maurauders as well as the recently displaced native irish peasants. they did well with the family forming part of the elite in carrickfergus , a big port at the time, and in the province of ulster in general.my beginnings were more humble, but always were the stories of fortunes stolen by relatives. send me a letter or email. it will force me to get my research into order.incidently there is information on the ohio crymbles of 1700 on the net. i think it was found by accessing the mormon church genealogy page contact me at http:// www.c.crymble@bmts.com" target="_blank"> www.c.crymble@bmts.com
