UTICA: Helen Cryder Joseph, 91, of Utica, Ohio passed away February 27, 2013.

She was born March 31, 1921 to the late Earl and Ada Hough Cryder in Hallsville, Ohio.

Helen met her husband Fred Joseph at Ohio State University 4-H where they were students.

During WWII, Helen was a home economics teacher and home demonstration agent.
When Fred, a Navy pilot, returned from four years on duty, they were married December 1, 1945, beginning 65 years together.
While raising eight children on their farm near Utica, Ohio (Licking County) they traveled and camped throughout Ohio and across the U.S.
She returned to teaching and completed 25 years in the Utica school system.
After retirement in 1987, she and Fred enjoyed many wonderful winters camping in Florida.
In addition to being a prolific knitter and baker, she was a loving mother to her large family, the joy of her life. She was a life-long Ohio State fan, member of Utica United Methodist Church.

Preceded in death by her husband Fred; son Stephen, and grandson Christopher.

Survived by her children Dr. Bob (Linda), Sally (Tom Meeks), Becky (Doug Hartman), Dr. Laura (Jim Mather), Dave (Rachel), Dan (Tammy), Tim (LeeAnn), and daughter-in-law Linda Hoffmann Joseph, Esq., 17 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Also survived by one brother John (Jo) Cryder of Joliet, IL, and sister-in-law Carolyn Joseph of St. Louis, MO, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation Sunday, March 3 from 2-5 p.m. at the Utica United Methodist Church, 626 North Street, Utica, Ohio 43080. Visitation Monday, March 4 at 10 a.m. at the Utica UMC followed by service at 11 a.m.
Interment to follow at the Bell Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's name to the Utica United Methodist Church, 626 North St., Utica, OH 43080 or the Ohio 4-H Foundation, 2201 Fred Taylor Dr., Columbus, OH 43210.
