Does anyone out there no of a Michael Cryder who may have moved from Pennsylvania in 1796 to Chillicothe, Ohio. He was a preacher who had a son named Emmanuel Cryder and a grandson named David Cryder. He likely had more children and grandchildren, but these are the ones I know of.

Will be pleased to exchange information.

Hey, I'm a relative I guess. I'm a descendant through his youngest son, David (born 1786) by way of his second wife Salome, Susana's sister (after Susana died, obviously). I can go back two more generations but you probably have that information (in case you don't - John Jacob Kreider, Jr was Michael's father and John Jacob Sr. before him.) I'd love to hear about what you have or share more of what I have.

I'm a descendant through Emmanuel's brother David (born in 1786). I have Emmanuel as born in 1777. The story in my family is that during the revolutionary war, Michael was a commissary and took pay for his flour in Continental Money (I don't know what that is exactly), which became almost worthless. To retrieve his fortune, in 1797 or 1798 (I guess it could be 96) he moved to Ohio going down the Ohio river on a flat boat from Pittsburgh to the mouth of the Scioto (spelling?) and then up the Scioto on a keel boat three miles north of Chillicothe, Ohio and there entered government land and built a flour mill and sold the flour down the river to New Orleans. Anyway, I have Michael's father as John Jacob Kreider, Jr. born in Switzerland around 1700 and his will (written in German and dated 1744) is on file at the Lancaster County Courthouse in Pennsylvania and mentions Michael and Barbara (who I don't know anything about). The spelling was changed to Cryder with this generation. John Jacob Kreider, Jr.'s father was John Jacob Sr. and born in Switzerland around 1670. He allegedly fled Switzerland to Wuerttenberg, Germany and then on to Pennsylvania sometime between 1710 and 1716. In 1716 he took up 800 acres of land on the banks of the Conistoga River. Hope I helped...

One of my grandmothers is Catherine Kreider (1810 in PA-1865 in Darke County, Ohio). She married John Ludwick Christian (1810-1893) in Darke County, Ohio in 1831. I do not know who her parents are or where she came from. There are other Kreiders in the surrounding area at the time, but I have no clue as to which was her family.
She could have been a granddaughter to John Jacob Kreider Jr. If you have a direction in which you could point me, I would be very appreciative. Thank you.
