My g-g-grandparents were James Croad (1813) and Caroline Webber (1815) who were married in Sherborne, Dorset in December 1836. Does anyone have them in their tree? Jane

CroadJane
Sorry do not have a James but he may be a descendant of a Charles Croad born circa 1730 who had twelve children. Do you have any earlier generations detail? Happy to share any information with you.

Found your message at last! I don't have any earlier info on generations, but would be very interested to know more; we might make a link somewhere. I have since discovered that James and Caroline (Webber) had about 10 children. Hope to hear more from you Jane

Jane The details I have for some of the twelve children of Charles and Edith Croad are a Daughter, Edith, born 1750, a Son, Charles 1752, Thomas 1753 ( my line of the family flows from him), Mary 1759,Sarah 1761, another Edith 1764??, William dob unknown, and Issac dob ? who married Mary Miller and had three daughters and one son between 1803 -1809. Let me know if anything ties in your end. Nigel

Nigel, Thanks for further info; nothing clicks at the moment but I will keep it on file and let you know if I find anything. By the way, did any of your relations come from Sherborne? I have a 1841 Census of Sherborne and one or two "Croads" pop up. Jane

Thanks. I have Charles Croad who was born in Dorset but place TBC. He married Edith and they had twelve children. I have some details for them. My direct anestor was his son, Thomas, who was born in 1753 in Piddletown (now Puddletown) which is about 17 miles south of Sherborne so must be a family connection at some point.Three of his brothers (Issac, William and Charles) were also born in Piddletown and moved to Portsmouth in late 1700,shortly after Thomas moved there. Let me know of any names your side from around Sherborne or other villages in the area circa 1730's - early 1800's Nigel
