This is my first post in researching this, so I don't have a lot to go on just yet. The story goes that a soldier with the last name Harvey fought in the Boer War and was killed. His ID was switched by my ancestor Charles Critchlow, who carried on living with the surname Harvey for the rest of his life, and this is the last name I grew up with (I'm so proud). Some people visited my grandmother from England a number of years ago and told her all of this but she doesn't like to talk about it.

Where do I begin? How can I get started in verifying this story? Are there other places I should post this? Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
