He married Polly Smith about 1831 in Southampton County (based upon the age of their oldest child). Richard's father was named William Crichlow and was born in Southampton County (according to "Virginia Deaths and Burials Index, 1853-1917" from Ancestry.com under the listing for Richard Crichlow).

William married Polly Smith 13 Dec 1802 (according to the "Marriage Register of Southampton Co, VA, 1750-1853, page 654 of the Brantley Assoc. Digitized Records). This puts William's birth somewhere around 1772-1782?).

The Brantley Assoc. digitized records show five occurrences between 1805-1820 when William Crichlow witnessed legal documents or was shown owing money. He is shown on the 1820 U.S. Census for Southampton County. I found nothing about him after the date of the 1820 census. Neither William nor his son Richard are shown on the 1830 U.S. Census but Richard does appear on the 1840 census as Head of Household.

I am looking for more information about this William Crichlow such as: who were his parents and siblings?; when/where did he die? Any help is appreciated.
