I was feeling tired and them came across this board, and to think i thought i was the last remaining Cribbin or my sister and i were. My father being John Edward Cribbin and having no surviving brothers, we thought that a full stop had come to the end of the Cribbin line, how i was mistaken. I am looking for a John Cribbin b 1848 (maybe in Co. Mayo) married Mary (Brownhill ) ,in 1866 in Cheshire and had 10 sons and 2 daughters, wIIliam is my Grandfather, but having trouble with JOHN, i know he lived in Sale, Ches. I am local to Sale, so know the area well. Can any cousins out there help.

Re: ALL CRIBBINS UK/CO.MAYO
Hi,
My mum was Cecilia Cribbin before marrying and came from Clane, Co. Kildare. There are still quite a few Irish cribbins there.

Re: ALL CRIBBINS UK/CO.MAYO
His name was John Cribbin and died around 1972. My Mum died three years ago. I wasn't born when my grandfather's wife died (1965) but I think her name was Mary, I'll check with my Dad.
The family lived in Mainham and Clane in Co. Kildare.
The children were Sean, Bridie, Cecilia (my Mum) and Brendan. Only Sean is left of the four and he still lives next to and looks after the cemetery in Mainham. Bridie and Brendan never had children in their marriages.
His family included his wife Breda, then children Pat (who past away in his early twenties), John, Breda, Sheila, Dominic and Richard. Their families I'm not up to date with.
In England my Mum married David Clarke and their children were Kay and Jane from my Dad's first marriage where his wife died and Jon (me) and Peter.
I'm the only one married with kids, wife Alison, daughters Eloise and Cicely.
Peter now lives in Australia.
I haven't been back to Ireland for years and really only know the Cribbins in Clane and surrounding areas of Kildare. The family used to be very heavily involved in looking after the grounds of Clongouse Jesuit College (the spelling might be a little awry there) and running and playing in both the local gaelic football and hurling teams. John almost made it to the Moscow olympics as he was runner up in the all ireland shot put back in 1979/80.
I hope this helps.
I can't help with the Brownhill connection sorry.

Re: ALL CRIBBINS UK/CO.MAYO
Hi Robert
I am from Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo where there are a number of Cribbin Clans that date back to the 1800s, maybe check with the Catholic Parish Church in Ballyhaunis, also check the outskirts Logboy Church and Cloonfad Church. My own family and cousins contain 3 John Cribbins!

Edward J. Cribbin age 57 living in Florida (USA). Not sure I can be of help. Father John Joseph Cribbin and grandfather was also John Joseph (I think). Believed to be of Irish or Scotch dissent. Not sure I can help much more.

Re: ALL CRIBBINS UK/CO.MAYO
Hello:
I have friends who live in Shanagolden and in Ardagh (the married name there is McConnell). They were cousins of the Dore family, also of Shanagolden. There is a Thomas still living. A Mary (McConnell), Michael, who died in his mid 30s I believe in Shanagolden, County Limerick and another brother who just died on September 9 (RIP) 2011, a great man and a great mission priest in Brazil for 50 years, Father John Cribbin, OMI. Check him out with Google. He was a very holy and hard working man. Humble and very unassuming. If you are related to this branch of Cribbins, then you are in very good company. Good luck. PS: There are a good number of progeny from the above generation!
