My great grandmother Hannorah Creagh O'Mara, was born in Feenaugh, Himosent Township (Limerick), Ireland. She immigrated to the Chicago IL area (along with her brothers James and William who settled in Breckinridge, TX), where she met James William O'Mara and they subsequently married. Their first children were born in Chicago in 1870 (twins whose birth records are in the Holy Name Church, Archdiocese of Chicago). She had another brother who stayed in Ireland, whom she called "Ned", which leads me to believe his birth name was Edward since that name has often been used in the first generation Americans of Hannorah and Creagh, along with the name "Edmond". Ned was a catholic priest, but I can find no record of him. There is a Holy Card in our family records from Fr. Edward Creagh to Hannorah with writing on the back that says "from Fr. Edward of Rome". But he visited the Great Valley, NY area at least once, and rumor has it he eventually taught school in the Baltimore, MD area. They also had a sister Kathleen Creagh to remained in Ireland, married a Keating (and they had a son Edward who subsequent moved to the Great Valley, NY area and lived with Hannorah's family there. I wonder if there is a connection here.
