Debra, In reading your post, there were a lot of incidents that could intertwine with your family. I just recently found my GGGrandfather's name, John W. Creach who married Phoebe Jones (This came from an obit of one of his children.) My John W. Creach could be the right age. A cousin said John W. made a cattle drive to Kansas City and never returned.
Their children were:
(1) Tom, oldest, I know little about him, [family tradition}except he went to Arizona, probably Graham County to work on a ranch. There he was killed by Geronimos indians, while the brothers and the law watched thru binoculars on a hillside, but couldn't get there in time. A cousin recently said he heard it was the 101 Ranch.
(2) William Strickland (Bill) b.November 14, 1858 Probably Hancock County, Tenn d.January 29, 1925,Buried Roger Mills County, Okla. Married Mae A. Gilbert at Fort Thomas, Arizona.
(3)John Daniel(Dan, J.D.), b. February 17, 1861 Hancock County, Tenn. d. March 4, 1925, Buried Roger Mills County Okla.{This is my ggrandfather. He had one child with Lucelia Goodman(?), who was my grandmother, Mary (Mollie) Adeline Creach.}
(4)James Franklin (Frank), b.February 24, 1865 d. June 18, 1946, buried Roger Mills County, Okla. Married Mary Louisa Trent, also from Tennessee.
These four brothers, one sister, Martha (married Richard Trent), and their mother, Phoebe Jones, eventually left Sneedville, Hancock County, Tennessee and moved to the Sanger - Olney - Denton area. There were also families of Parker, Trent, Lamb, Hatley, Green and Willis that came from Tennessee or Texas that eventually arrived and settled around Hammon, Oklahoma circa 1900.
I am anxious to hear from you. My email is
