Hi,
I am looking for possible ancestors for my great great grandfather Hugh Craven born circa 1805 most likely in Ireland. He lived in Balregan or Balriggan, Dundalk, Co. Louth, Ireland (1854 on Griffith's Valuation) and died in Dundalk in 1888. He was married to Mary McGuinness in Dundalk in 1833, and they had at least 7 children all baptised in the RC Parish of Dundalk: Mary (b 1834), Catherine (b 1836), Patrick (b 1838), Bridget (b 1840), Rose (b 1842), James John (b 1844) and Margarite (b 1845).
Mary Craven (b 1834) above emigrated to Baltimore in America and she married a Denis Hogan, and had at least 8 children: 2 sons and 6 daughters,
Catherine Craven (b 1836) stayed in Balriggan, Dundalk, Co. Louth, Ireland and married Michael McEvoy and had at least 6 children: 3 sons and 3 daughters.
Their younger brother James John Craven (b 1844), my great grandfather, also stayed in Balriggan, Ireland in Waterlodge and he married twice, first Ellen Elmore and then Margaret Shoulder. James John Craven and Ellen Elmore had a daughter Catherine who also emigrated to America and we think Catherine Craven married someone with surname Quinn.
Does this family ring any bells with anyone out there and would anyone have any possible information about Hugh Craven and his origins, I would be very grateful.
Thanks and regards, McShane01
