Duluth News-Tribune (MN) - March 18, 2004 Deceased Name: WILBUR DEAN CRACKEL Wilbur Dean Crackel, 73, of Monticello, Minn., passed away on March 16, 2004 in the Abbott NorthWestern Hospital in-Minneapolis. Wilbur was born on Jan. 26,1931 in Hand County S.D. to Elroy and Anna Crackel of Ree Heights S.D. He moved to rural Sebaka in 1936. Wilbur graduated from Pine River High School in 1949, married Mayme Lakein 1952. After serving in the army from 1953-1955, he was employed by Reserve Mining in Silver Bay for 30 years, then Sonora Gold Mining in Jamestown, Calif., for eight years, retired to Menahga in 1994, and then spent his remaining years in Monticello Minn. Wilbur is survived by his wife, Mayme; five children, son John (Socela) Crackel of Summer field, Fla., son Gene (Jacqueline) Crackel of Two Harbors, Minn.; daughter, Luanne (Earl) Tedrick of Silver Bay, Minn., daughter, Julee (Jeff) DeHart of Silver Bay, Minn.; son Joe (Beverly) Crackel of Monticello Minn.; and six grandchildren and one step-grandson. Wilbur is survived by three brothers, Warren, Lynn, and Leroy Crackel; and three sisters, Evelyn Borstner, Eleanor Synstad, and Christine Hutchinson.
