Looking for this couple's marriage information. I've been trying to find Leah's family, as well. Leah may have had a nickname of Polly.

I believe their children are William, Melvina, Abraham, Mitchell, John and Solomon. According to the 1840 Census there was another girl under 5. I think Leah died between 1840 and 1844 when Jacob remarried Eleanor Wright. Son, John is married to Nancy Jane Street. They had a daughter, Mary Ann. She is my gg grandmother.

John is not thought to be a part of this family, but through migration, I believe he is. In 1860 he lived next to Nancy's parents in Buchanan, Virginia. Down the road lived brother, Mitchell. Also, the Crabtree family moved on to West Virginia and that's where we find a widowed Nancy on the 1880 Census. Their youngest child, Melvina was born in 1878 and her birth record states Nancy and John as her parents. I believe she is also named after her aunt, Melvina.

On John and Nancy's marriage records it states that John's parents were Jacob and Polly Crabtree. Most people jump to the conclusion that this is Jacob and Polly Yeary Crabtree. This couple was from Lee County, Virginia and Estill Kentucky. The migration just doesn't fit.

1810 Census I find Solomon Crabtree in Washington County, Virginia. Solomon is Jacob's father. I find 2 John Harris' and a Nathaniel Harris in Washington County. One of those John's has a female under 10. Leah?

1820 Census I find Jacob living with female of the age of Leah. Same year I find a John Harris in Scott County, Virginia, which is adjacent to Washington County.

Any help or suggestions would be great and much aprreciated.

I think you are probably correct; although he did name his first son, Job, he named other children, Melvina, Abraham and Jacob.

Do you have any information on Eleanor Wright's parents? As she was 29 when she married, I suspect Wright was a married name and am unsure how to verify this. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bonnie
