Better Way, Minneapolis, Kansas, April 25, 1935, page 5, col. 3&4: PHILIP CRABS Philip Crabs was born in Rock Island county, Illinois, October 13, 1856, and passed away at his home in Ada, Kansas, April 20, 1935, at the age of 78 years, six months and seven days. He left Illinois with his parents in the fall of 1873, moving to Nebraska, and came to Kansas the following spring where he has lived ever since. On September 23, 1877, he was united in marriage to Nancy Jane Zook and to this union were born six children. Lucy E., Daniel V. and Guy E., passed away in infancy. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, three daughters: Mrs. A.S. McGlaughlin, Mrs. J.H. Sechrist, and Mrs. H.H. Drake, and one grandson, Ray E. Drake, all of Ada; one sister, Mrs. Cassie Mote of Tryon, Okla.; two brothers, W.D. of Perkins, Okla., and Abe of Olympia, Wash.; and a host of relatives and friends. When a boy of 14, he was converted, and in his last hour said, "I know that my title is clear." The body was taken to the R.S. Todd Funeral Home where it lay in state until the funeral, which was conducted to the Baptist church of Ada, at 2:00 p.m., April 23, by the pastor, Rev. A.W. Lee. Burial was in the Ada cemetery.
