Manchester Motor, Dickinson County, Kansas, Dec. 2, 1915:
Crabs-- Houtz
One of the prettiest of the autumn weddings was solemnized Thanksgiving evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Asa H. Crabs when their daughter, Gracie Casye, was united in marriage with Raymond R. Houtz, of Solomon, Kansas
Promptly at six o'clock the bridal couple, unattended, took their place beneath a bower of green from which hung a wedding bell. Rev. B.F. Dice performed the short but impressive ring ceremony.
One of the most beautiful features of the ceremony was the christening of the bride and as the snowy petals fell on her mist-like veil, the effect was indeed impressive.
Immediately after the congratulations and best wishes were showered, the guests repaired to the dining room where a bountiful feast awaited them. The table presented a very festive appearance with its autumn centerpiece, consisting of a large pumpkin basket heaped with luscious fruits and surrounded by a wreath of asparagus ferns and white (missing line) throughout was tastefully decorated in heavy ropes of smilax, white chrysanthemums and carnations.
The bride was attired in a lovely creation of white satin messaline and shadow lace and carried an arm bouquet of white chrysanthemums and ferns. Her exquisite toilet was completed by a flowing white tulle veil. The groom wore the conventional black.
The bride has spent most of her young girlhood in this community and at the time of her marriage was postmistress at this place.
The groom is the son of former Representative and Mrs. L.P. Houtz and is a young man of sterling qualities. The bridal couple received many useful and beautiful gifts, mostly of cut glass, silver and linens, which in a measure testified to the high esteem in which they are held.
The happy couple will be at home to their many friends after January 1, 1916, on the Houtz farm near Solomon. The best wishes for happiness and success follow them to their new home.
The guests included Mr. and Mrs. L.P. Houtz and daughter, of Abilene; Mr. and Mrs. Eli Houtz, Mr. and Mrs. Jolitz and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. S.N. Chaffee, of Talmage; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dilling, of Solomon; Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Starr, of Twin Falls, Idaho; Mrs. Frank Miller, of Benton, Montana; Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Chase, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chase, of Abilene; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hogarty, Mr. and Mrs. John Hogarty, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Riggs and daughters, of Ada; Mr. and Mrs. J.E.
