Alice (Crabs) Sechrist, the daughter of Philip and Nancy Crabs, was born on a farm near Ada, Kansas, on February 20, 1881, and departed this life at the Ottawa County Hospital, Minneapolis, Kansas, May 7, 1969, at the age of 88 years, 2 months and 17 days.
Alice spent most of her life in and around the Ada community with the exception of a few years she spent in Denver, Colorado, while employed there as a young woman.
On March 1, 1916, Alice was united in marriage to Joseph H. Sechrist. They made their home in Ada, where they spent a long and happy life together. In 1918 both Joe and Alice united with the Antioch Baptist Church of Ada where they were faithful members.
Alice was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, as well as her parents. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband Joe of the home, and one sister, Maude Drake of Minneapolis, a nephew, Fay Drake of Ada, as well as many friends and other relatives.
Services were held Friday, May 9 at the Haley Funeral Home with the Rev. C.E. Bodenhamer officiating. Mrs. Jack Shafer was the organist. Miss Linda Sidener and Miss Bette Shafer were the singers.
Pallbearers were Jack Shafer, Chester McCullick, Virgil Cline, Harold Mountain, Eugene Mullen and Deane White. Burial was in Fairview cemetery at Ada.
