Hello Tony Crabbe,
How are you Crabbe related? Or what is your pedigree?

How would you be related to the Castlewich Crabb line and know you are a descendant of John the Elder Crabb?

Since the early Callington, Cornwall, England Parish registers, my Crabb surname was spelled Crabb until after the mid 1830s, then it was my cousin Horace Gates Crabb who added the "e" to Crabbe. Several Crabb relatives followed and changed the name to Crabbe and some kept Crabb.

During the 1620 Visitation of the King's Camp called Castewich which was set up by the town of Callington, Cornwall, England, an individual in the John the Elder Crabb descendancy received recognition, not a family. The 3-4 generation 1620 Visitation is the only offically recognized document by the College of Arms in London, England.

My Crabb cousin Horace Gates Crabb's Bible has John the Elder Crabb and his brother and Horace's and my line John the Younger Crabb which perfectly matches the Cornwall County, England extracted baptisms/christenings, marriages, and burials Parish registers.

My William Augustus Crabb was baptised/christened 2 Oct 1743 Falmouth, Cornwall, England, one of 9 children of John Thomas Crabb and Mary Reed. I am double related on the Crabb and Reed lines. My William Augustus Crabb and his brother Thomas Crabb came on a private ship to Pennsylvania. William and Thomas settled in Harrisburgh and Middletown, Dauphin, Pennsylvania.

My advice as you are a Crabbe and are not adopted or some other Crabbe on your pedigree is not adopted, that you take a male Crabbe DNA test. FamilyTreeDNA is good.

My William Crabb died an infant in 1742/1743 in Falmouth, Cornwall, England, CPO from my Crabbe cousin. My William is in a lone grave as his other siblings are buried elsewhere: One brother in Devon County, England, his other brothers and sisters in America

The below is another Crabb family:

Her husband is William Crabb chr 17 August 1741 Falmouth, Cornwall, England, son of John Crabb and Mary Talbot.

Rebecca died and buried Oct 1778 in Falmouth, Cornwall, England from childbirth of baby daughter Ann Crabb who was chr 11 Sep 1778 in Falmouth, Cornwall, England.

The Crabb family originated from Cornwall County, England.. I have information thanks to Edward Broadbent Crabbe now deceased and my mother's Grannie Jane Reid whose surname was originally Reed from Cornwall Coumty, England.

Father: John Thomas Crabb chr 7 Sep 1711 Saint Germans, Cornwall, England
Mother: Mary Reed chr 23 Mar 1719 Saint Germans, Cornwall, England
Marriage: 16 Nov 1732 Linkinhorne, Cornwall, England
They had 9 children:
1. Elizabeth Crabb chr 28 Apr 1734 Falmouth, Cornwall, England, died PA
2. Mary Crabb chr 4 Jan 1736 Falmouth, Cornwall, England, died PA
3. Henry Crabb chr 18 Mar 1738 Falmouth, Cornwall, England, died PA
4. Ann Crabb chr 9 May 1740 Falmouth, Cornwall, England m. Abraham Larke, d.in Middletown, PA
5. William Crabb chr 2 Aug 1741 Falmouth, Cornwall, England & buried 1742/1843 Falmouth
6, Rebekag Crabb chr 15 Jul 1742 North Hill, Cornwall, England, died PA
7. William Augustus Crabb chr 1 Oct 1743 Falmouth, Cornwall, England 1m Jane Minshall in PA and m2 Elizabeth Kendig in PA.
8. Thomas Crabb chr 1 Mar 1746 North Hill, Cornwall, England, came US with brother William Augustus and m. Martha Henderson in PA.
9. Susanna Crabb chr 21 Aug 1748 Falmouth, Cornwall, England, died PA.

This Cornwall County, England Crabb line has been traced by Cornwall County, England Parish registers and Wills from John Thomas Crabb's father William Crabb in Callington, Cornwall, England to John Crabb 1459 in Callington, Cornwall, England.

Note: The Callington Crabb never went to Prince Georges County, Maryland as that is the Easton Royal, Wiltshire, England Crabb family with Ralph Crabb and Priscilla Sprigg, which is my husband's line.

Note: The Callington Crabb never went to Westmoreland County, Virginia as that is yet another Crabb line.

Note: My Callington Crabb line has our male Crabb DNA by a descendant of Thomas Crabb.

I recently found a copy of the book "Ancestry Hunting" written by Bryan Marin in my Grandmothers Cedar chest. Its heartbreaking there is no mention of my Great Grandfather John Allen Crabbe who was indeed the son of Decourcey Wright Crabbe. I tried locating Birth Certificates/Death Certificates with no luck. However, I decided the way to go to prove the Hawaiian lineage was to follow thru with the ancestry DNA test. The results are postive for Polynesian ancestry proving my Great grandfather John Allen Crabbe is Decourcey Wright Crabbe's son.

What I find strange is I have letters written from Bryan Marin to my Aunt in regard to the family history, my aunt always spoke about Ralpha and Bryan as cousins.

Hi: I am Brian Harkness (b. 1949), son of Roderick Harkness (b. 1917), Son of George Edson Harkness (b. 1874). George was the younger brother of Mary Harkness (b. 1857). George Edson and Mary were children of Roderick Duel Harkness (b. Sep 1824 per 1900 census). I am desperately trying to get a copy of "Ancester Hunting" and can pay you for a copy. My Phone is 510-432-2528. My email is brianharkness08@gmail.com. My address is 460 Newton Ave., Oakland, Ca 94606.
I have found letters from Bryan J. Marin to my younger brother Mark Harkness (b. 1950) dated 1975 or 1976. Bryan sent my brother Mark his book, but I cannot find it, and he is deceased. Any help would be appreciated.
regards, Brian Edson Harkness
