William P. Crabb; is it William Perry Crabb or William Paul Crabb (1829-1893) ?
To whom it may concern, If anyone has evidence that William P. Crabb's middle name is Paul, I would like to know what evidence supports that name. There seems to remain among some researchers whether Willliam P. Crabb, 1829-1893; who was born to Joseph Crabb and Catherine Rogers; is William Perry Crabb or Willam Paul Crabb. My name is Lee Crabb, great-great grandson of William P. Crabb, great grandson of Henry Livingston Crabb, grandson of Algee Buel Crabb, and son of Algee Buel Crabb (the second). My father spent much of his childhood with his grandfather Henry Livingston Crabb who told my father that his father's name was William Perry Crabb ( named after his grandfather William Perry Rogers) and that Henry Livingston's second son was named Benjamin Perry Crabb, after his father William Perry Crabb. Hence, Perry Crabb and his sisters Mable Crabb and Dolly Crabb, my grandmother Gladys Blanch Powers Crabb (wife of Algee Buel Crabb), my father Algee Buel Crabb (the second), his sisters (or my aunts) Darby Joy Crabb Haley, and Gladys Crabb Drake each and every one of them always referred to him as William Perry Crabb. I have never found any evidence that his middle name was Paul. I believe that the family's record supports the name William Perry Crabb. I personally interviewed my father, Perry Crabb Mable Crabb, the husband of Dolly Crabb (John R. Thomas) Gladys Blanch Powers Crabb, Gradys Crabb Drake, and Darby Crabb Haley on this subject. Today each of them have passed-on and I continue to pass this information to our posterity as it has been passed on to me. However, it is now a part of my genealogy records. I hope that this information may be helpful to those who include William Perrry/Paul Crabb in their records. If anyone has any evidence to the contrary I would like to be informed of it. Happy research to you all. Lee Crabb

Re: William P. Crabb; is it William Perry Crabb or William Paul Crabb (1829-1893) ?
Hello Lee,
I am in the process of untangling my connection to Joseph and Catherine Rogers Crabb. I have been working on it exclusively for a few days.
I found a marriage record for M Elizabeth Horne and William PAUL Crabb. (U.S. and International Marriage Records, 1560-1900) Because this collection is extracted from a variety of sources, including family group sheets, I am thinking that it is not such a reliable source.
The Tennessee State Marriages, 1780-2002 have them shown as Wm P Crabb, and spouse Elizabeth Horn. Marriage date 12 Dec 1850 in Lawrence, Tennessee.
The focus of my research is to find the parents of my great great grandfather Willis James Crabb, born 23 Sep 1851, in Tennessee. He is the father of my great grandfather Joe Marion Crabb. Joe Marion Crabb was the father of my grandfather, Tollie Willis Crabb, who was the father of my mother, Irene Lucille Crabb.
I thought he was the James Crabb (~1852), the son of William P Crabb and M Elizabeth Horne on the 1870 census. Perhaps not. I have not found any census record with him listed as Willis James until 1880, after he is married to Martha Jane Gentry.
If there is any light you can shed on my ancestors, I would be VERY grateful!
Cathy

Re: William P. Crabb; is it William Perry Crabb or William Paul Crabb (1829-1893) ?
Cathy, According to my records and research Willlis James Crabb, b. 1851 d.1930, is the first son of William Perry Crabb and M. Elizabeth Horne. Census records for the family state only his middle name James so he must have been referred to as James rather than Willis during the census interviews. Willis James Crabb is the brother of my ggrandfather Henry Livingston Crabb who was born to William Perry Crabb and Lucinda N. Livingston, rather than Elizabeth Horne. Joe Marion Crabb was a resident of Carlsbad, NM as was Henry Livingston Crabb. Joe's children were cousins to my father and aunts (Algee Buel Crabb, Gladys Blanch Crabb, and Darby Joy Crabb) when they lived in Carlsbad. My father's Aunt, Mable Crabb, the daughter of Henry Livingston Crabb, informed me of these relationships during a visit I made to Carlsbad in 1975. This is the best information I have to offer you Cousin. Let me know if there is anything else I might help you with. Sincerely, D. Lee Crabb
