Does anyone have the 1861 and/or 1871 census for Charmouth, Dorset that they might be willing to look up for me? I am looking for information about my Gt Gt Gt Grandparents George and Elizabeth CRABB (late CROSS, formerly BOARD).
My Gt Gt Grandma Alice Sarah CRABB was born on 24 July 1861 at Axminster Road, Charmouth. By the 1881 census, she was married to my Gt Gt Grandfather William Henry GARLAND, and living in Southampton. On their MCert - Alice's father - George CRABB - was a Shoemaker.
According to the 1881 census, a George and Elizabeth CRABBE are living at Old Lyme Road, Charmouth - aged 65 and 62 respectively - George, a Cordwainer, born in Uplyme, Devon; and Elizabeth, a Laundress, born in Delwood, Devon.
Would anyone be able to tell me what this family were doing in 1861 or 1871?? I would like to know if George and Elizabeth had any other children, and if Alice Sarah was one of them. This would enable me to tie this 1881 entry down as "my" family, and be able to concentrate my research. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
I'd also like to hear from anyone also researching this family, or with these people somewhere in their ancestry.
Thanks Alison, Swindon, UK
