In various sources, Daniel Cozens was prematurely reported dead during the American Revolution but speaking for himself,
Upper Canada Land Petition 121,
He was a Captain in the 2nd Battalion of New Jersey Volunteers, commanded by Lt. Col. Isaac Allen. He is requesting land as a captain. Signed June 20, 1796, York, Upper Canada, Daniel Cozens.
Granted 3,000 Acres in Markham, Ontario if actually resident in the Province. Peter Russell.

Note: It appears someone delivered his petition in for him.
* There is no reference to from where he is writing. To receive a grant of land he had to be a permanent resident of Upper Canada.
But no further mention of Capt. Daniel is found after that date. The next document is by Samuel D Cozens, mentioning his brothers, Joshua, Daniel and Benjamin Cozen. Samuel Cozens swore an oath that Gov. Simcoe promised at the last session held at the [Fort York] Garrison that he and his brothers could have a grant of 1,200 Acres of land.

UCLP 61, C Bundle 5, Daniel Cozens is a saddler by trade. He carries on his business in a house he rents in the Town of York. 4 Feb, 1800.
They came into Upper Canada in 1793. Their elder brother Josiah D. Cozens died in the year 1795 in the Town of York [Toronto]. Swore and signed Daniel Cozens Jr., dated 21 March 1801
