In 1795 you should be searching "Van Kuykendall" instead of 'Coykendall". Howver, I have been researching the "Van Kuykendall, Kuykendall & Coykendall" as well as other versions of the name for 10 years. I have never run across the name Bowdewine. If you find anything further, please let me know.

One of the places I saw Bowdewine listed was http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/

I am researching the Coykendalls who were in/near Emmet county, Michigan.
Cyrus Andrew Jackson Coykendall, son of Bowdewine. I believe that Cyrus also had a son named Bowdewine.
Variations of the surname that I have come across so far are Coykendell/Kuykendell/Kuykendall.

My Coykendall married into the Rutledge of upper Michigan/possibly Canada. I have always heard that both sides came from Canada at some point, but I have not found the connection yet.

Bowdewine and Cyrus are in my family. Bowdewine and Phoebe had a daughter Alice Edith or Edith Alice how was my great grandmother. I barely remember her as a little girl. I remember that she was very superstitious and we used to tease her by pushing an empty rocking chair. She always said that meant someone was going to die. Of course as kids we did not believe her and thought she was just being silly.
I am very interested in communicating with you about this famlily.
Do you live in Michigan by any chance? I am near Grand Rapids but my aunt is in Boyne City and very much into this family genealogy too.

Hi, Beverly,
On my Van Kuykendall/Kuykendall/Coykendall/Kirkendall tree, I have a 1st cousin named Bodewin Kuykendall (Perhaps short for Bodewine)he was b: 18 Apr 1786 and d: 1870. His parents were Hendrik and Mary (DeWitt) Kuykendall. I have NO wife for him, but I do have three children listed
(1)David (2)Samuel (3)and Mary. Could this be whom you are looking for? I do NOT live in Michigan. I was born in the Finger Lakes Region of western New York State and currently live in Arizona. Many of the Kuykendall's migrated to Michigan when the great Northwest territory was opened for settlement. Others took the Oregon trail to the northwest. many also went south into Texas, and other southern states.

Surnames: Coykendall Seeley Hills House
Hi - I am also interested in this family, particularly the House family. Two of Bowdewine and Phebe sons married cousins; Cyrus who married Frances Hills; and Jerome who m. Mary Seeley. Mary and Frances' grandmother was Rebecca House so I have wondered if there is a connection between Rebecca and Phebe.
