One of those boys was named Thomas . Do you have any info on his date of birth? He married a Laura Stevens and had at least six children. One was my grandfather named Fred Coyer. They lived in Kentucky as of U.S. census 1910. Iwould love to hear from you. Thanks ,Timothy Hale.

Dear Deb,

I am searching for a Marguerite Carriere who married a Maurice Plouf abt 1820. Marguerite died at the Akwesanse Indian Reserve, New York in 1827. She left behind 2 sons Frank and Louis who settled in Monroe Co., MI abt 1850. Side note - my father's family (Beaudry/Bodrie) also settled in Monroe Co, MI and moved to Pinconning, MI to farm the land in the 1800's. The family Centenial Farm is still there on Cody Estes Rd.
Any info on the Carriere family would be most appreciated.

Dear Gayle,

My 2nd Great-Grandfather was Francois Xavier Plouf/Ploof. He was born on the Akwesanse Indian Reserve, New York in 1824. His God-parents are listed as Louis Carriere and Marguerite Bonefant. Francois mother was Marguerite Carriere. She died there 03/14/1826. I would be most greatful if you could direct me to information on this family. Could Marg. Carriere be the sister of Louis? I really looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely, Don Bodrie

Hello Don, I do not know any of the siblings of Louis Carrier but I do have information on his parents. If you have information on Marguerite's parents, we could tell if they were siblings.

Jean-Baptiste Carrier baptised Dec 10 1741 at Levis; married at St Nicolas Sep 11 1773 Angelique Doubille, daughter of Joseph and Marie (Gesseron) Doubille-Jeremie. Only child identified is Louis, born 1780, place not identified, although he married Marguerite Bonenfant at Riviere-Ouelle Jan 17, 1803 (or 1808).

They had eight children. The last one was Joseph, born March 29, 1819 at Raquette River; godparents were Francois Roux and Marguerite Carrier. Could this be the people you are researching and Roux is a mispelling of Plouf?

Please let me know if you this corresponds to any information you have.

Gayle

How can I get a copy of your book?
Does your book have any connections to Coyers in Knapp, WI. My grandfather was Earl Coyer and his wife was Ella Schroeder. My great grand father was Edgar Hammond. Earl and Ella had five children, Lawrence, Herbert, Beatrice, Glen and Evelyn.

Yes, your family is in the book The Coyer Clan and the Carrier Connection by John Edward Armstrong. There is information about Earl and Ella's family (and all the kids), Earl's father Edgar's family, etc. There is a photo of Edgar's farm taken in 1915 and Earl and Ella are in the photo. I know the Dodge County Historical Society has a copy of the book. There were also many copies sent out to Coyer families all over Wisconsin and Minnesota so maybe if you look at some sites that specialize in genealogy histories you might find a copy. Please post again if you want me to provide any specific information about the Coyer family and the moves from Canada to New York to Wisconsin/Minnesota.
