John and Hannah Coxey from England settling in Pennsylvania 1820-1823.
Isaiah and Elizabeth Edler Coxey lived in Boalsburg, PA.
Caleb and Mary Ernst Coxey moved from Pine Grove Mills PA to Mellen WI.
Harry and Rhoda Lutey Coxey moved from Hurley WI/Ironwood MI to Roseburg OR 1948.

Does anyone have information on this line of Coxey's? I have a lot of information I would be willing to share.

I have a Richard Coxey who was a gardener in 1859 and who had a son James who was born about 1840 in Great Badsworth, Cheshire.

Could these be related to yours?

Do you have more information on Richard and James Coxey?John and Hannah Coxey in our family were believed to be born in England approximately 1800, but we do not know where. Their first child Thomas was born 1823 and the second Isaiah (my husband Jim Coxey's Great-Grandfather) 1829 in Philadelphia PA. On an 1860 Census record John's occupation in England was in woolen manufacturing primarily as a "spinner" in the woolen mills. His occupation on the 1860-63 Pennsylvania tax records gives his occupation as "spinner". Do you know if Great Badsworth, Cheshire had woolen mills in the early 1800's?

Looking forward to hearing more about your Coxey line.

I got the "Great Badsworth" from the 1881 Census, but I have just tried to find it and there is no Great Badsworth in Cheshire. There is, however, a Great Budworth in Cheshire. Possibly Great Budworth is correct and Badsworth is a transcription error from the handwriting. I don't have access to the original image.

There was certainly cotton milling in Cheshire.

My James Coxey married Zillah (Celia) Johnson in 1859 and I have the marriage certificate.

I learned from the certificate that Richard Coxey, father of James, was a gardener, as was James at that time. They gave their address as St Anns Street, Leeds, Yorkshire.

By 1881 James (by then a coachman) and Zillah were living in "Southfield Coachmans Cottage" in Great Lever, Lancashire (near Bolton) with 9 children, three of whom worked in a cotton mill. One of their children, Agnes, who was then ten years old, was my grandmother on my father's side. She died of throat cancer in 1933 when I was three years old and I can just remember her.
