I have a photo of the Cox Family Reunion of 1932, held in Canyon, Texas. There are over sixty persons named and clearly identified. These are descendants of William Nelson Cox, George Wesley Cox, and John Marion Cox, who were all brothers born to parents James (Jim) Cox & Melissa Cecille Murphey in the mid-1800s in Hempstead County, Arkansas.
In the 1890s, these three brothers & their families went west by wagon train to Indian Territory (Oklahoma) and lived initially in the Duncan, OK area near Hope Township. A fourth brother, Levi David Cox (my great-grandfather) remained in Hempstead County AR (later became Nevada County). Their fraternal grandfather was John Cox (b: 1787 VA).
This particular Cox reunion was held in 1932 at George & Minnie Cox's home, northwest of Canyon TX. A Cox Reunion is continues to still be held annually (most recently in Guthrie, OK).
Following is a listing of the Cox descendants in the photo. Contact me directly at <dustyrds@airmail.net> for a copy of the photo if you are connected to these family members:
