Newbie Help: Amos Cox & Nancy Giles
Greetings! I'm new to this genealogy stuff and was wondering if someone could help me keep the chain going backwards. Some family members have helped me get back this far, and was hoping to get some input on continuing the line of Cox's....
Clyde Cameron Cox (1894-1966) spouse: Harriet S Freeman (1895-1982)
Daniel Frederick Cox (1855-1917) spouse: Haydee Eugene Collins (1865-1925)
Amos Cox (N/A) spouse: Nancy Giles (N/A)
...And the trail ends there for the Cox side.

Also I believe Amos/Nancy were Pennsylvanian's, and Daniel and Clyde were in Oswego,NY.

Re: Newbie Help: Amos Cox & Nancy Giles
Amos Cox and Nancy Giles were from Peters and Metal Townships in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Nancy's sister, Mary Ann was my g-g-grandmother. Nancy was born around 1825. They had a brother, Jacob, who died in 1921 and is buried in the Corpus Christi Cemetery in Chambersburg. The whole family was Roman Catholic and I believe the Giles family originated in Maryland. I've done a little bit of research on their descendants, but not a great deal. I'm planning on going to Chambersburg in the next month or so to do some research.

Re: Newbie Help: Amos Cox & Nancy Giles
Terry, I found one Census that had Amos Cox born in Maryland. I have been working on that angle. It was definitely him as his wife was Nancy, and children all matched up.

Re: Newbie Help: Amos Cox & Nancy Giles
I am curious as to any information you have on this family. For years, I had no idea about the birth or parental information for my great-great grandmother Sarah Cecelia Cox Faith (1862-1928). I recently viewed her death certificate, and this was the first source I found on Sarah that listed her parents, the Amos Cox and Nancy Giles listed at the beginning of this thread.
