Hi Martha,
I don't have the book personally, but I was told that there is just a mention of Sylvester Amanda with no further info?
All, I have been able to piece together, and it is still sketchy is that Amanda's father is John Mathias (this fact is certain). He was born abt.1827 VA, his father was born in Holland. John died after 1890 where he appears on the veterans schedule in Pulaski Co., KY. Amanda was born 23 July 1852 in VA. In 1860, she is living with her father John and stepmother Elizabeth in Darke Co. OH. In 1870, they are all in Shelby Co, and she has already married Sylvester, 29 Jan 1868. From what I have been able to piece together, I BELIEVE her mother to be Mary Ann Zirkle of Rockingham Co, VA. John and Mary Ann were married 17 Oct 1850 in Rockingham Co. That is where Amanda was probably born. Then appaprently they moved to Miami Co, OH. There are land records for John and Mary Ann in 1855/56? Then John marries Elizabeth Kiser/Kizer/Kaiser 25 Feb 1857, and they have more children, one of which is my gr-grandfather. There is a lot on the Zirkle line here in Ancestry.com. But, I have been unable to definitely verify that Mary Ann is Amanda's mother. And I have been unable to trace back any further info on John.
I hope some of this helps you. Let me know if I can provide more, and I would love to hear more about Amanda and Sylvester. You have just provided me with info on their daughter, Anna. Thank-you.

Hi Debbie!

I just came across this message board. I also have a copy of the book, my father received a copy as a contributor. I have found a Bert Covault, s/o Silas Harvey Covault and Sarah E. McCoy, there is no birth date listed, however, the first son Manford was both in 1879.

Hope this helps!

Would you be willing to look up Ephraim Covalt in your book. He was born in PA in about 1800 I believe. His father was Jacob or Bethuel. They came to Blackford Co in 1840 and the family was hard hit by Cholera. Jacob died of Cholera in 1842. His wife and their remaining children lived out their lives in Blackford Co.
Ehpraim married either Elizabeth Lyons or Lake in 1825. Thier children were Emery, Dory Newton, Albert and several others.

Is there anyway you could e-mail me, so that we could determine if we've got the right person. Covault is a name I've searched for about 1 1/2 yrs. Real hard. I look at names, ect to connect things and somehow , I do connect things. Does the name (Julia A. Covault )Cavoult. Cavolt, ect ring a bell to you.?? She lived with William Neugebauer and wife, Mary in 1850. She (Julia) later lived with MC Stallings ( I think that MC Stallings was a person in the Civil War, I find him as a private something or of higher rank) and wife, Sarah. Then Mary died leaving William with the children, and the 3 children lived with the Stalling(s) family then in the yr of 1860. The census records says that Mary, Julia and Sarah were all born in KY. I think, Mary was as a Covault or Stallings, in my opinion. Does any of this ring a bell to you? Or any names. I always think of anything that could possibly fit.

I may be incorrect on some imfo becaue I've not been doing my reasearch in awhile, so pleae ignore the incorrect imfo, but the basis is right.

Please e-mail me if you have any imfo.

Thanks
Please e-mail me back.

Thanks,

LOLA
