My grandfather was Ezra Covault who was the sheriff of Hartford City, Indiana. Married Mary Jane Neff. They had 5 girls, one of which was my grandmother - Millie Covault who married Charles Jackson in Warren, Indiana. If anyone is related to this family, I would love to hear from you via e-mail. Sandy

I am not a geneologist but I have been casually looking for info about the Covalt family. My maternal grandmother was Bertha Covalt, daughter of Annice and Benjamin Covalt of Benshoff Hill near Johnstown in Cambria County, PA. Do you know the nationality of the Covalt name? We always assumed it was German, but I am unsure. Any info would be appreciated.

Covaults of Fountain/Warren Cos. IN
Sandra -- I've done a ton of work on the Clawson family, a number of members of which intermarried with Covaults. Some branches of both families moved to the Fountain/Warren Co area of Indiana in the 1820's and decades after--and I notice that your grandmother was of Warren, Indiana. I'd be happy to help you if you have any idea how to get back a generation or two from her. Please e-mail me directly when you get this at JohnLaird9@aol.com because I can't get e-mail addresses from messages posted to this board.

Re: Benjamen Franklin Covalt
That's my family. There are a lot of descendants. Most of the family lived outside of Johnstown though Goldie and Erma moved to Lancaster, PA. Earl and Cliff had farms on Benschoff Hill. Sadly, all are deceased. Goldie never married and had no children. What specifically would you like to know about descendants? Are you related?
