I had a great great grand uncle born in Italy and left for America and never heard from again. He was born in Frosolone, Campobasso and would have been born about 1850 so presumably travelled to the U.S. about 20? years later. Anyone have any info.?Don't know his name but he did have a brother whose name was Egidio Covatta.

Covattas from Compo Basso Italy
My great-grandfather was Domenico Covatta born in Limosano Compo Basso Italy in 1879. His father was Ceaser Covatta. His mother's maiden name was Gabriella Rantangelo. He had two daughters Gabriella Covatta born in 1915 and Amelia Covatta born in 1916. Gabriella Covatta is my grandmother. I am interested in finding any relatives still in Italy or here in the U.S.

Covatta?Covatto?Kovatto?Kovato? ect....
Hi, I am having some trouble locateing my husbands family. His great grand father came from Italy and might have left a family behind. The spelling has changed and I thought that maybe Covatta could be another spelling for Covato or Kovatto. I know many people miss spell our name and use other variation. His great grandfather name is Gueiseppi (not sure how to spell it) they called him Papa Joe. He started a family in Pa one son was born around 1917. Thank you

Re: Covattas from Compo Basso Italy
My Grandfather, Vincenzo Covatta was born in 1915 in Limosano. He moved to St. Catharines, On after WWII. His father died shortly after he was born and his mother remarried into the Marrone family. I have an uncle Louis Covatta who is his 1st cousin in Lewiston, NY.

Re: Covatta?Covatto?Kovatto?Kovato? ect....
I came across the message boards for the surname Covatta. My mom was a Covatta and said that before they came from Italy the spelling was Cavuto. When they got to NY it was changed to Covatta. I too am interested in family history of the name. My family lived in Norristown, PA. There are many Covattas in PA in my family. Thank you.
