From the October 22, 1959 "Clay County Advocate" newspaper:
"Charles Coulter, 84, passed away in his sleep at his home south of town, Friday morning, as a result of a coronary thrombosis. He was a retired farmer. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.N. Presley at the Easley & Padgett Chapel, Sunday afternoon. Burial was made in the Wells cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Ella; a son, Pearl of Clay City; a daughter, Mrs. Blanche Moseley of Chicago; and a sister, Mrs. Effie Waughtel of Long Beach, California"
