I, too, am a descendant of Phillippe Cote - married to Josephine. He was my great-grandfather. My grandmother is Florence Cote Campeau.

Elzear Cote, son of Jean and Marie Massicotte, married Abegaile Cephise-Zephise Laveau (dau. of Francoix-Xavier & Angele Sauvageau) came to US in 1880. Had children Amanda (8/26/1892), Philippe J (March 1877), Jeffrey-Geoffrey (Sept 1888), Ledia (Feb 1889), Mary-Louise (Dec 13, 1895 and Ernestine (Aug 1887)

Phillippe J. Cote married Josephine M. Desmarais 11/16/1897 - these are my maternal great-grandparents.

I have quite a bit of info dating back to the 1700's (Francois Lemire).

I am looking for information on Elzear Cote as he was the father of Marie Anne Amanda Cote who was actually the older sister to Philippe J. Cote. Amanda would be my great-grandmother. The information I have so far indicates that both Amanda (1875) and Philippe (1877) were born in St-Casimir, Quebec and arrived in the Somerset, Wisc. area before 1879. Their mother, Marie Zephrisa Laveau, passed away on 16 Feb 1879 in Somerset. I have a record of Philippe living with his paternal grandfather, Jean Cote, but I do not have any record for Amanda, where she was living or with whom. She married Zenon Champagne on 27 Sep 1892 at St. Anne's in Somerset and then in 1896 she, Zenon and their two little girls moved to their new homestead in the area NE of Edmonton, Alberta. Zenon was killed by lightning in 1900 so Amanda remarried to Remi Noel. She already had 5 children and had 3 more.
