Phillip J. Cote, 84,
a resident of the PA Soldiers and Sailors Home,
passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at his residence.
He was born in Erie. Pa. on February 18, 1931,
a son of the late Leo and Florence Starks Cote. Phillip worked for GE for 28 years and also worked in construction for many years. He proudly served his country as a First Sergeant with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Winers Diners Club and enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, and watching birds. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Nancy McGee Cote; one son, Michael L. Cote; one granddaughter, Crystal Cote; one grandson, Gregory Munch; and two brothers, Paul and Ronald Cote. Survivors include two sons, Philip Cote II and his wife, Jeanette, of Greene Twp. and James Cote and his dear friend, Megan Comstock, of Erie; one daughter, Linda Cote and her fiance, Toby Sidon, of Warren; seven grandchildren, Ryan and Kyle Cote, Daniel and David Goodman, Sarah Bell, Jason Carr, and Kate Comstock Cote; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bernard Cote and his wife, Dorothy, of Millcreek and Patrick Cote and his companion, Nancy, of Waterford; four sisters, Mary Catherine Cooper of Erie, Laura Jean Karle of Millcreek, Rita Burick and her husband, Donald, of Wesleyville and Janet Bokshan of Harborcreek; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to services, with military honors, there on Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to the PA Soldiers and Sailors Home, 560 E. 3rd St., Erie, PA 16507.
