I have a newspaper article about the Lowells which states that Margaret was living in Milford, New Hampshire as of April 1900. They had 4 sons, 3 daughters, and 7 grandchildren. I''m looking for any info of the Lowell family, John & Sophronia . I have some names of Margaret's sisters and brothers. Any help would be appreciated

I saw you inquiring on some geneology on the Lowells. I have a typed research paper from one of our cousins that goes back to John and Sophronia. It lists quite a bit of info and I am compiling it to add to the Ancestry Tree. I will get back to you when it is added

Please let me know. I've been at a dead end for some time now, and it all revolves around the Lowell family. I have pictures of John & Sophronia on tin. My grandmother is Louise Beaumont, Her mother was Dell Donah ( Lowell ), which her mother was Sopronia. I'd love a copy of the research. Do you know anything about which Indian Tribe Sophronia came from? I know it goes back into Canada, and I have a newspaper clipping that said one of the sons changed the name to Lowell when they came to the USA. Do you know what that is? Who are you a desendant from. I know John and Sophronia had 14 children and 3 that died. Plus maybe some adopted ones too.

I just fired off an email to you before i even realized you replied to the post here. i have the work in progress on Geni.com transferring the info onto an online family tree, as you have probably already read. So all I need is your info just traced back to your great grandmother, then i can invite you to our portion of the tree, where you will be more than welcome to fill in the blanks

I dont know which is better, email or here so im posting here too my family line goes from John and Sophronia's son William, his son Roy is my Great grandfather, Roy's son Victor is my grandfather, and my father Henry. As far as obtaining a copy of the documentation, that wont be too hard, the pages are in a loose binder so it will be easy to copy. As far as the name change, we have heard that it may have been Lavoie before, but that was never confirmed. As for the Iroquois heritage, all we heard was there was some indian blood in the family, but nothing beyond that.

OK, Dell, which was one of Sophronia's & Johns daughters, would have been my great grandmother. I have a bracelet that belonged to her with her name on it. I have birth dates, death dates, day they got married, when they moved to the US, all the siblings names. Paperwork from Vermont census, and a newspaper article about them, obituraries. This is great, another lead, I'll be glad to share what I have.I heard the name Lavoie too, but wasn't sure about the tribe. I have a pic of my grandmother as a child and she looks indian, also have a pic of people sitting around a teepee tent, it's so cool. Send me an e-mail

I've been reading the posts regarding Peter Cota and the Lowells and just wanted to see if you could please include me in on any other info/pics that you may have on them? My name is Elizabeth (Liz) Cota-Maddux and my father is, Charles J. Cota Jr. My grandfather is Charles J. Cota, Sr. (son of Margarett Lowell and Peter Cota), making them my great-grandparents. John and Sophonia would then be my great-great grandparents. Unfortunately, most of the family on my dad's side has passed and I only have a few cousins left. There's only one that I'm semi-close to so I am very limited in the info I have about my family history. My grandfather (Charles J. Cota, Sr.) used to spend winters with us in Florida before he died and used to tell me that we had Mohawk Indian blood in our family. I too, am curious if we can trace any history to where it originated? I know my grandfather was born in VT, lived in NH and then settled in Providence, RI where he married my grandmother, Rose McKenna, and my father and his sister were born. I was always told that on my father's side, I was French-Canadian and Indian. That was it....so any history to help me fill in the blanks would be very much appreciated. I can't seem to find any history on Peter Cota.....does any one know who his parents were? Where they were from? I've hit a road block and I'd really appreciate any and all help! Thanks! I was born in FL but currently live in KY and my email is: lizmaddux@yahoo.com.
