Re: Andres Cota (b. abt 1700, MEX) descendants
My mother is Consuelo Savin Cota who's family is from La Paz, Baja California. Family names in her tree are Cota, Savin, De Leon, Verdugo, Talamantez, Sandoval, Marquez, Dominguez to name a few. We were just looking at a La Paz book of family pictures. Maria Ester Verdugo, La Paz, 1924 has a photograph. Any relation to you? I can be reached on: connie.m.gunther@gmail.com

Re: Alfredo Solis Cota m. Emilia Carriaga
Diana,
I am also related to Frederico and Rosario. They are my great grandparents. Their daughter, Filomena Cota, was my grandmother. She married Ramon Portillo in Los Angeles, CA and had my father, Charles Frederick Portillo. Do you have any information about the older Cotas?

Re: Andres Cota (b. abt 1700, MEX) descendants
Hi, My Name is Andriana Cota originally from Santa Ana, CA. My Father was Andres Q. Cota, Son of Pedro Cota, Grandson of Andres Cota. I am looking for anything solid on my geneology. I have heard many different stories of my descendants and so far have not been able to confirm any of them. It is my understanding that my great grandfather was Andres Cota from Mexico, in the baja, CA region. Please contact me as soon as you can. Thank you.

Re: Andres Cota (b. abt 1700, MEX) descendants
I'm related to Guillermo Cota (b. 1809 in San Antonio, Baja California Sur) who may be a brother or cousin of Fermin. San Antonio probably only had a few hundred people in it at that time so most of the Cotas there were probably related in some way.
Guillermo's father was also an Andres Cota (probably born about 1760-1770) and his mother was Nicolosa Castro. In addition to Guillermo, Andres and Nicolosa had at least two other children: Jose Maria Cota (b 1801) and Maria A Cota (b. 1790). It's possible that this line is a decendant of the Andres Cota/de Leon family given the names but unfortunately we can't find anything else on our Andres.

Re: Andres Cota (b. abt 1700, MEX) descendants
I can legitimately go back to an Andres Cota, possibly born 1890s to 1900 (my Dad carried the name sake as do I and my Brother. From what I understood, the descendants settled in Santa Rosalia after the war. The original Andres Cota (my great great great g-pa)was a General. Then theres an empty gap between 1770 to 1890. I dont know my Great Great Grandparents names. My great Great Grandpa was Andres Cota who married Maria Ortiz both born between 1890-1900. Id like to fill in the gap before pursuing documents.

Re: Andres Cota (b. abt 1700, MEX) descendants
Holy smokes! We seem to have the same research. My G-pa was Pedro Cota, his Dad was Andres Cota... (hentz Andriana). My legitimate research ends there. My estimation; Great G-pa Andres Cota was b. Around 1890-1900. He was from Santa Rosalia. My G-pa (Pedro) was super French looking..pastey-white green eyes, black curls. From what I understood, his Mom fled the abusive compound like home with my g-pa when he was just a little guy and thats how we lost connection. Andres ended up procreating offsprings with other ladies. Also, I was told by my dad that his great g-pa was a general and mayor of the little town you speak of, very wealthy folks. Id love to get documentation on this. I think I'm a direct descendant of Andres Cota b.1700. We seem to recycle this name, quite religiously. I Need proof for my own sanity, And yes, we are also nerds. 90% of us are in the civil/mechanical engineering sector. And almost all of us have light skin, colored eyes. Many of us are musicians. Pedro has land in T.J. was 22 acres prior to his death in 1994. Today my g-pa Pedro would be 92ish. My Godfather was Hector. I think he was Pedros bro or cuz. I dunno.

Re: Andres Cota (b. abt 1700, MEX) descendants
I am related to Francisco Cota (b. abt 1800 in San Antonio, B.C. Sur) who married Maria Ygnacia Leon (b. 1802 in San Antonio, B.C. Sur). I do not know the name of Francisco's father. If anyone has any information on Francisco, I would appreciate it. I would expect that he is related to Guillermo in some way since San Antonio was a small community at that time.

Been there and done that - not much info in Harry Crosby's books about genealogy of the Cota's after his sons - two of whom stayed in Alta and another returned to Baja - the ones that stayed and returned to Baja are the ones I'm looking for - not those who stayed in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles.
