Sorry for the confusion - to be honest there is a lot of confusion on my part as well, as I try and get things sorted.

My grandfather's mother's maiden name was Cormier, she never married his father Alderic LeBlanc. She married a Maurice (just found his name) Thibodeau, but the marriage did not last long, she then dated my grandfather's father but they never married, and still later began dating a man whose last name was West (recently found this out - though I do not know his first name) - to be honest that side of the family was very secretive as far as my understanding so I know that she went by West, and that people assume she married this man but I can't actually find a marriage certificate so it's possible she took his name without actually being legally married to him as some of the family don't seem sure on the point. So she actually went by Helena ("Lena") West.

I will admit that the family tree is quite...knotted, and difficult to sort things out, which is why we did not get very far down my grandfather's mother's side especially with so many of the older generation being so secretive. I do know my grandmother had tried several times to get this information from the remaining family members of that older generation but to no avail and I believe they have all since died.

To date the only thing I have managed to find is:
1) Lena's marriage certificate to Maurice
2) Lena's mother's death certificate (she was Josephine LeBlanc at the time of her death - just to add to the confusion, Josephine actually married Alderic LeBlanc's father, Adolph)

On Lena's marriage certificate her mother's maiden name is listed as Josephine St. Peter, on Josephine's death certificate, her father's name is listed as ? St. Peter's - no first name - so we're not sure which last name it was (or frankly if it was either).

Hence the confusion and my simply not having a clue where to go from here.
